I am in need of supplies to get our classroom started for the new year! I am a Spanish Immersion teacher in a high poverty elementary school. In this setting, students are taught math and reading in both English and Spanish. Students spend half of their day immersed in English, and half of their day immersed in Spanish. I have two groups of twenty-two students taking on this incredible task of learning to be bilingual at just the age of six. By the end of the year my students are able to read, write, and do math all in SPANISH as well as English. My kids are amazing. While learning everything in Spanish, they are also learning how to read, write, and do math in English with my partner teacher.
My Project
Kindergarten is an amazing year filled with learning, exploration, and fun! Our classroom desperately needs some materials to be able to make it a great year! Items such as crayons and glue sticks allow students to complete lots of the curriculum connected and holiday related art projects. We also use these materials to add beautiful illustrations to our writing. Dry erase markers keep our ink flowing so we can continue practicing handwriting, letters, and numbers in dry erase boards. We also use play doh to build letters and numbers. After cleaning up, hand sanitizer keeps our hands nice and clean!
