I am a Spanish Immersion teacher in a high poverty elementary school. In this setting, students are taught math and reading in both English and Spanish. Students spend half of their day immersed in English, and half of their day immersed in Spanish. I have two groups of 22 students taking on this incredible task of learning to be bilingual at just the age of 6! By the end of the year my students are able to read, write, and do math all in SPANISH! My kids are amazing! While learning everything in spanish, they are also learning how to read, write, and do math in English with my partner teacher!
