Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have 26 adorable, energetic, and inquisitive 3rd graders. They love reading, and we've read dozens of books together this year, in many different genres and on a variety of topics. I want to give them books as end-of-the-year gifts so they can continue to explore the world through reading.

I've gotten to know my students as readers and as people through the stories we've shared, and I want to send them home for the summer with books chosen specifically for them.

My selections include fiction and nonfiction books about sports and history, science and animals, biographical and fictional narratives, narrative poetry and graphic novels. I chose books to match each student's personality, interests, and reading level. The books represent different genres and reflect the cultures and experiences of my students. Each student will receive two books, in addition to other gifts and treats to enjoy over the summer.

Your donation will help every student in my class. The academic "summer slide" is a real thing, and engaging books will go a long way towards preventing that. But more importantly, it will help my students take the joy of reading home with them for the summer.
