Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are respectful and hardworking, funny and intelligent. They come from a highly diverse but lower socioeconomic area. Together with the high schoolers from my Careers with Children course, we run an on-site preschool for community children ages 2.5 to 5. This preschool is funded mostly through community donations. Donations are used to purchase supplies and equipment for the preschool, such as googly eyes, paint, glitter, construction paper, tricycles, etc.

We believe having a Cricut and button maker will help us create preschool-centric items, like t-shirts, stickers, and buttons, that we can sell to preschool families to help fundraise for larger projects for our high-schooler-run preschool.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
