Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 8th grade students are resilient, funny, and full of potential. They come from a variety of backgrounds and learning abilities, and while each student has their own strengths, many struggle to see themselves as successful readers. Since many of my students read significantly below grade level, independent reading can often feel overwhelming and discouraging instead of enjoyable. My goal is to change that.

A cozy reading corner will provide a comfortable, welcoming space where students can slow down, relax, and build positive reading experiences.

Creating an inviting environment helps reduce anxiety and encourages even the most reluctant readers to stay engaged with a book.

This project is about helping students who have often felt defeated by reading discover that they are capable, successful, and worthy of enjoying books. Your generosity will help create a classroom where every student has the opportunity to grow in confidence, develop a love of reading, and leave middle school believing in their ability to succeed.
