Because of you, our middle school students were able to enjoy an incredible afternoon focused on fun, connection, and mental wellness.\r\n\r\nThe event was a huge success! Students were able to step away from their usual classroom routines and spend time outside engaging in a variety of activities designed to promote joy, teamwork, and relaxation. From outdoor games and relay races to chalk art and board games, the smiles and laughter were constant. Your donations also allowed us to provide plenty of snacks and candy, which helped give students a much-needed \"brain break\" before diving into their end-of-year exams.\r\n\r\nIt was clear throughout the afternoon how much the experience meant to them. One student shared, \"This is the best day ever—we should have a field day like this every week!\" Others commented on how nice it was to just relax and enjoy time with friends without any pressure.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our students were reminded that their mental health matters, and that taking time to recharge is just as important as academic success. As we approach lunch or the end of the day, many begin to feel a little hungry, but learning must continue. With just a simple candy or cookie, they can bounce back and spring into action. The gratitude they show, knowing that I care about their personal needs, also motivates them to dig a little deeper after being attended to.\r\n\r\nCandies and snacks also serve as motivation and rewards—for good work, improved behavior, or helpfulness. Students enjoy good grades, but when it comes with a treat, its sweetens the favor! Snacks or candy rewards become a driving force in getting afternoon chores done, such as diligently collecting calculators, placing chairs on tabletops, or picking up trash from the floor.\r\n\r\nThe availability of snacks and water in my classroom also removes the need for students to leave the room to rehydrate. Your support makes a meaningful difference in our classrooms, and we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have already had a powerful impact on student learning. They allow our students to focus during online lessons, assessments, and individualized learning activities without distraction. For many of our learners, especially those who need extra support, having access to their own set of headphones helps them engage more deeply, build confidence, and take ownership of their education.\r\n\r\nBefore this donation, independent assignments on the computer were sometimes challenging as, without headphones, students either had to turn their volume all the way down which posed a challenge or they played it out which disturbed other students. With the aid of this donation, students are now able to access videos and interact independently with their own device because they each now have headphones!!!\r\n\r\nNot only are students able to listen, but they are able to create their own audio responses to prompts as an alternative to writing which has made our classroom more inclusive and equitable and creates a more productive learning environment. Every student—no matter their learning style or needs—can fully participate and thrive.\r\n\r\nThe other stationery materials have also been helpful in creating student engagement and learning as they use anchor charts to scaffold their learning and recall previously learned content. They enjoy helping to make their anchor charts as they understand the importance of their existence. \r\n\r\nLastly, nobody loses pencil like a middle school student! with the provision of pre-sharpened pencils, our trade-out-a-broken-pencil system has been working great for minimizing classroom disruptions or just to have students prepared for meaningful work with a pencil!\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students' success. Your contribution is helping to shape brighter futures, one learner at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1744032943432,"projectUrl":"project/math-ra-math-ra-talk-all-about-it/9121849/","projectTitle":"Math-ra! Your kindness has already made a noticeable difference in the lives of my students, and I am so thankful that you chose to support us in this way.\r\n\r\nHeadphones may seem like a simple tool, but in a classroom setting they open the door to countless opportunities for deeper learning and student engagement. For many of my students, especially those who are learning English as their second language, the impact has been profound. Before we had enough headphones, it was difficult to provide each child with the individualized attention they needed when practicing listening comprehension, pronunciation, or vocabulary. Background noise made it challenging for students to focus, and some even felt embarrassed about speaking aloud while others could hear. Now, thanks to your donation, my English language learners can participate in listening and speaking activities more confidently, with the privacy and focus that headphones provide.\r\n\r\nI have seen a noticeable improvement in their willingness to practice English without fear of judgment, and their comprehension skills are growing stronger by the day. Being able to clearly hear the words, phrases, and sounds in a lesson allows them to connect more meaningfully with the material. One student even told me that the headphones make it feel like the teacher in the video is talking \"just to me,\" which shows how much more personal and effective learning has become.\r\n\r\nIn addition to language support, the headphones have also enhanced video lessons for the entire class. Educational videos are an important part of my instruction because they allow students to visualize concepts, hear different perspectives, and experience interactive learning. With headphones, students can now engage with these lessons without distraction and at their own pace. This has been especially helpful during small-group instruction or independent work time, when some students are watching a video lesson while others are working on different activities. The headphones have created a calmer, more productive classroom environment where everyone can focus on their task without interruption.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only supported academic growth but has also helped boost confidence and independence among my students. They are learning to take ownership of their education by using the headphones to explore lessons on their own, replay explanations when they need to, and practice skills in a way that feels comfortable. The sense of empowerment this provides is invaluable.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, I want to thank you once again for your thoughtful donation. You may not be physically present in our classroom each day, but the impact of your gift is felt in every lesson, every activity, and every smile that comes from a student who feels supported and capable. Your contribution has strengthened the foundation for their success, and I am deeply appreciative of your support.","fullyFundedDate":1746495430131,"projectUrl":"project/plug-in-to-possibilities-donate-headpho/9289313/","projectTitle":"Plug in to Possibilities: Donate Headphones for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10007320"},{"teacherId":7205885,"projectId":8976284,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project to provide more diverse novels in my classroom library. The impact has been monumental in the short time since receiving the books. I'm seeing students who used to groan when reading was mentioned ask if they can borrow a book and bring it back when they're done. Some were discussing their books and saying things like, \"This book is actually pretty good,\" which I hear as code for, \"Did you know a book could capture your attention like this?\"\r\n\r\nThe book Long Way Down has been rapidly circulating through the classroom. Originally a book written in verse, Jason Reynolds tackles questions of loyalty and violence in a middle-grade-appropriate style. It's heavy and it's real. While I provide a heads-up for content when I see a student pick it out, that usually ends up enticing them more to read it. They've asked about sequels or other books like it; I'm watching students realize that the books they read can challenge them in a way that is satisfying. I'm seeing students fall in love with reading as they see what else they could read from our school's shelves. \r\n\r\nI'll continue using the graphic novels (as well as the visual dictionary and vocabulary guides) with class content as well; we'll be reading Maus soon, and the variety of related-content graphic novels will provide opportunities for deeper dives into the text. \r\n\r\nAvid readers are excited to get their hands on more books; reluctant readers are becoming eager readers. English Language Learners are reading more excitedly, the content scaffolded with images.
