A Class Auction to Remember

Help me give my students an end of year class auction to remember. At the end of the year, my class will have read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series and The Hobbit.

My Project

The book collections themselves and things such as the Turkish Delight are things we read about. They are items my students voted for to be included in their auction if possible. Candy and slime are other things they hope to have available. My class is also obsessed with the Screaming Goat, so I found related toys with books included.

My class uses Class Dojo to incentivize participation in class and reward kids for doing the right thing daily.

There are points awarded individually and also some awarded for the group as a whole.

During each quarter we have had mini auctions (using points as currency) for prizes I already had available to me. At the end of the year, I plan to have one huge blowout auction where kids can use the remainder of their points to buy the things they really have wanted. I hope to have some pretty impressive prizes there.

We also tie this into yearlong learning about budgeting and saving. Some kids have found out that it may not have been worth ten points to buy a single tootsie roll when 30 points could buy a $25 stainless steel hydroflask or a $30 hat later. All of these kids deserve a reward for a year of putting in hard work. They have truly made phenomenal progress already this year and 100% of my 32 kids are literate now!
