We were even able to brainstorm, write, illustrate and publish our own book which allowed everyone in class to contribute pages of writing and pictures. We utilized artificial intelligence to tie it all together into one cohesive story and it was quite entertaining, whacky and comical to read.\r\n\r\nMost kids improved fluency by 50 or more words per minute this year and many improved accuracy from below 90% to 99-100%. Half a dozen kids started the year reading under forty words per minute and all of these at least doubled, if not tripled their word count. It was phenomenal. We read all seven Chronicles of Narnia books, The Hobbit, Hatchet, Brian's Winter and My Side of the Mountain.\r\n\r\nReading fun novels in itself was a reward, but kids also earned points in the class economy, which they spent at our end of year Literacy Bash. Everyone was able to buy a book, some bought entire series of books. We also had some rather large prizes donated from elsewhere, which the ones with the most banked points (often those who didn't spend them frivolously on snacks/etc. during the year) were able to purchase in the class auction.\r\n\r\nWe could not have done this without your generosity, so thanks!","fullyFundedDate":1746657643135,"projectUrl":"project/end-of-year-literacy-bash/9261936/","projectTitle":"End of Year Literacy Bash","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Osborn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8974721_orig.jpg?crop=273,273,x0,y2&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677717157601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8974721"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87753","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":168,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":65.8,"schoolId":87753,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riddle Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riddle Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/riddle-school-district-70/riddle-elementary-school/87753"}
