This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of energetic scholars. They are eager learners who are ready to take on the challenges of the 21st century. They are young people that simply need the resources to stimulate their creative minds.

With the support from hard-working families, my students have to balance their rigorous academic work while navigating through the challenges of living in a community that does not have the resources needed for them to succeed.

Regardless of the issues they face on a daily basis, they have goals, drive, and most importantly, they are hungry for knowledge. They possess great aspirations for change in their neighborhood, our country, and the world.

My Project

This school year, I have made it a point to include an artistic component in each and every one of our English language arts projects. This idea has been a hit amongst students; however, I quickly learned that when I was in middle school my concept of art was very different than what it is for my students. In seventh grade, I drew, I painted, I used clay, and watercolors. My students do the same thing, but digitally. Having a mobile cart that can hold a laptop, projector, and speakers will allow my students to show off their 3-D masterpieces, student-created videos, and music with greater ease. This cart will also allow us to show student work far beyond the reach of our classroom walls and show what they've learned to parents as well as the community at large.
