Some begin the year uncertain of their creativity, but they soon find joy in experimenting with color, shape, and design. When the new supplies arrived, including markers, oil pastels, paint, and watercolor paper, their excitement was contagious. Students immediately started imagining what they could make and could not wait to dive in.\r\n\r\nWe have already used the materials for projects like our Emotion of Line and Color Theory lessons. With these tools, students are learning to layer, blend, and experiment without fear of making mistakes. It has been amazing to watch them turn challenges into creative discoveries and build confidence with every project.\r\n\r\nHaving enough supplies for everyone has also made a big difference in keeping the classroom calm, collaborative, and fun. Thanks to your support, our classroom is now equipped with the tools and resources we need to make learning more interactive, engaging, and tailored to the needs of my students. The items you've helped provide, such as the HP OfficeJet 8015e Wireless Printer, Scotch Thermal Laminator, and various magnetic building toys, have already made a significant difference in how my students engage with lessons and how I can better support their unique learning needs.\r\n\r\nThe HP OfficeJet 8015e printer has been a game-changer in our classroom. Many of my students benefit from visual aids, and the ability to print customized learning materials on demand has been invaluable. With this technology, I can now create large print materials, visual schedules, and personalized resources for students who need additional support. The wireless printing feature allows for seamless integration into our classroom, allowing students to interact with content on paper in a more meaningful way. This has been especially helpful for students who struggle with reading comprehension, as they can engage more effectively with visual and printed text. I've seen students who were once hesitant to participate in reading exercises feel more confident when they are given materials designed to meet their specific needs. The excitement and pride they feel when interacting with something that was printed just for them is something I never could have achieved without this technology.\r\n\r\nThe Scotch Thermal Laminator has also been an incredible addition. Students are able to help me prepare laminated resources for games, flashcards, and activity sheets, which they can then use independently. Laminating materials helps extend their use and makes them durable, so students can practice skills repeatedly. For example, laminated flashcards for letter recognition and sight words have allowed students to rehearse vocabulary in a hands-on way that has increased retention. The tactile process of using the laminator has also become a motivating factor for some students, who take pride in helping to prepare classroom materials. It fosters independence and gives them a sense of ownership in the learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe Lakeshore Catch a Letter Magnetic Learning Game and the Magnetic Building Tiles have truly been a hit with my students. These hands-on, sensory-rich tools engage students in a way that traditional materials sometimes cannot. The Catch a Letter game is helping my students build letter recognition and early reading skills while having fun. For students with varying levels of literacy, this game has proven to be a more interactive and less intimidating way to practice foundational skills. Similarly, the magnetic building tiles have encouraged teamwork and creative problem-solving. Students work together to build structures and solve challenges, which promotes communication and collaboration. Some students who typically struggle with group work have found new ways to interact with their peers, as they eagerly collaborate to create new designs and share their ideas. These toys are not only helping students develop critical thinking and motor skills, but they are also fostering a spirit of cooperation and shared learning.\r\n\r\nOverall, these resources have allowed my students to engage in a more inclusive, personalized, and enriching learning experience. Your support is making a tangible difference in their education, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities you've provided. Your generosity is helping my students develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning that will last a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1723596170218,"projectUrl":"project/start-of-something-new/8633122/","projectTitle":"Start of Something New","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9650589_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723517402943","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9650589"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7234","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":369,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.4,"schoolId":7234,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Marina Del Rey Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Marina Del Rey Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/marina-del-rey-middle-school/7234"}
