This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Testing anxiety is real! Students are required by the state to take lengthy and tricky assessments to prove their acquisition of the content areas. While it is good to hold schools accountable for their progress, it is a heavy burden for these littles to hold in their hearts. They worry that they won't know the content. They worry that their score won't be higher than their peers. Some know the content but just blank out from the anxiety of taking such a huge test. Even regular assessments without the weight of a state ranking drive some students to have anxiety attacks or meltdowns. Life in general is tense for some, so even during non-assessment times, these things are magic!

Calm Strips are so effective for ALL learners!

They were first for my students with fidgets in their IEPs, but the entire class found them to be calming and useful. As a teacher, I prefer them to putty, slime, and popping or noise-making toys. The kids put them on their water bottles, their desks, and inside their desks. They are terrific, but they also wear out. So this is why I have a second campaign up this year. They aren't disposable but the adhesive wears out after frequent use.
