I am incredibly appreciative of your kindness and thoughtfulness.\r\n Prior to receiving this cabinet, I was the only one able to access classroom supplies, and I often had to search through a dark cabinet to find materials. Now, all of our supplies for art projects, writing, and math are clearly organized and easily accessible to every student. Each bin is labeled, allowing students to independently read what is inside and quickly retrieve and return materials. They are learning responsibility, independence, and organizational habits that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\n When the large cabinet arrived, the students literally gasped with excitement. They thought it was so cool to receive such a meaningful donation and felt important knowing that someone invested in them and their learning.\r\n When we return from break, students will begin practicing their leadership skills by taking turns serving as table leaders who are responsible for retrieving and putting away supplies for their group. This donation has already had a positive impact on our classroom community, and its benefits will continue throughout the year.\r\n Thank you again for your generosity and support. My students have already put the art supplies to wonderful use. They created kindness rocks, which they placed throughout their communities to help spread positivity and joy. They especially loved using the acrylic markers to bring their designs to life. The skin-tone markers were used during our self-portrait project, allowing students to thoughtfully represent and affirm their own identities. They drew images that reflect what is important to them and then used their artwork to inspire artist statements that shared who they are and what they value. These meaningful self-portraits were proudly displayed at our Family Event, where we celebrated the diversity within our school community.\r\n The students were beyond thrilled when they first saw the art supplies! This fall, they explored watercolors by using lines and shapes to design pumpkins. They enjoyed experimenting with color mixing and discovering how new colors are created through blending. When we return in January, we will begin a unit on birds. Students will use these amazing supplies to create detailed scientific drawings of a bird they choose to research and become experts on. To be fair, this is a valid question; if you've never seen the value in storing your work and notes besides as a resource for exams, then this makes sense. To this day, I don't think I've done the best job in fully explaining why we should store our solutions, or even how to study using these collections in our binders.
