My Students

My third graders come from a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and families. They are bright, fun, and love learning, and come with a wide range of strengths and abilities. Third grade is an amazing year of growth. They come in with the expectations of having learning handed to them and they walk out as self motivated students who enjoy taking on learning challenges. Allowing them time to work individually and in groups, and providing them with individually leveled materials, increases their opportunities for successfully working in ways that are most beneficial for them.

My Project

My students love reading and are working hard to improve their reading skills. I want to develop their skills and love of literature by exposing them to as many quality stories as possible.

Having a set of Ematic tablets with headphones will allow them to access programs where they can listen to books being read to them, while also following the words on the screen.

This allows them to enjoy stories they may not yet be ready to read on their own.

These tablets would also be used in other areas of curriculum such as math games and story writing.
