My Project

A few years ago I transformed my classroom into a flexible seating environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose a space in the classroom to work - whether it be a space on the floor, standing at a table or sitting at a traditional desk. My flexible seating options have become limited because of frequent use. My students love being able to chose the seat they can work best in! This project will allow me to expand student choices in which seats work best as well as give them engaging things to do when they are working around the room!

Flexible seating gives all students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them.

This flexible seating environment encourages general education, special education and students with difficulty focusing to work in partnerships, communicate effectively, move around frequently, and engage in critical thinking more easily. Having seating options will continue to foster this environment by providing additional choices for students.

The office chairs willl allow my students to sit comfortably at a high standing table. The lap desks will allow my students to work on the floor around the classroom. The coloring pages and markers will be used when students are done with their work. The poster putty will be used to hang up their work!

The ability to move around while working and while sitting has helped all of my students to be more attentive and focused. All of these materials will help my the students continue to work and grow in a flexible seating environment.
