My students need more 3D printing filament in a variety of colors in order to create their 3D objects for classes and clubs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are pioneers! They have chosen to attend an Early College High School. This means they are working toward earning an Associate Degree in addition to their high school diploma at the end of four years. They would be the first generation of their family to attend college!
Most of my students are low-income, at-risk children from populations that are under-represented on college campuses.
However, they are dedicated to achieving their goal and want to make a better lives for themselves and their families through education.
Math is often a stumbling block for students, especially those who are first-generation college students. They often do not have the support they need at home. However, my goal is to work with every student so he/she feels successful and ready for college or for a job. If students can be successful in my class, then they are ready for early college classes. This means these students will realize that they can reach that dream of a college education and be one of the first in their families to graduate.
My Project
We received a few 3D printers this past year and have been printing like crazy. Teachers have been able to print some fantastic STEM instructional materials, while students have been able to print project pieces for classes and clubs. Now we need more filament to print with!
3D printing fosters creativity and critical thinking, gives students experience in engineering and design, and provides a fun and tactile component to learning!
I'm very excited to see all the different things that people can continue to create! I'd like to get a variety of different colored filament so the kids don't have to limit their creativity. Specifically for math, I'd like to get them printing their own tangram designs and geometric objects. I love that 3D printing allows them to transform their 3D ideas into 3D reality!
Last year was tough with Hurricane Harvey and a lot of change, so we're doing everything we can to make our school have the best learning environment possible!
