Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Bon Voyage! These 2nd graders are ready to start exploring the world around them from near to far!

My students are hardworking and caring yet they don't always get everything that they need, at home or at school.

We are a school with an over 60% free and reduced lunch rate, yet we have high aspirations to give our students the same experiences that every student deserves.

My Project

Our district wide reading program has us teaching our students through a variety of stories from around the world. I would like to expand on each child's understanding of the world around them in order to help create appreciation of the beauty of other cultures. I have found that the students don't know much more about the world than the city they live in or Mexico, which is where over 40% of the students in our school are from. The globe and continent books will help show them some geography, the hello cards will teach them some different languages and the Music CD will show them the differences in music around the world. Here, they will be able to learn visually, verbally and audibly!

With your generous help, my students will be able to expand the literature selections and increase their understanding of the world around them!

It is so important to provide cultural awareness where students continually develop awareness of their own and others' cultures to help create the next generation's global citizens!
