Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My curious, engaged second graders are always asking questions about where real-life heroes like Wangari Mathaai, Louis Braille, Malala Yousafzai, Martin Luther King, Rigoberta Menchu, and so many more came from. They ask about the places the characters in the literature we read come from. They also want to visualize where the equator, continents, and countries are as they study the rainforests, deserts, mountain ranges oceans, and other ecosystems. As they share their family histories, they want to search, find, and impart the names and locations of their ancestors' lands with their classmates. All this makes us richer and more educated together.

Please help me have a hands-on way to further their excitement and connection and deepen their knowledge of our vast world.

Having globes and atlases available in the classroom will take us far!
