Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are so amazing that they helped construct and develop a non-profit organization that focuses on helping young men in our community right in our very own classroom after school.
Our teens are creative, enthusiastic, full of curiosity, and unique in that they've endured some of life's most difficult challenges while staying resilient and progressive.
Our youth continue to dream of seeing the unknown, learning new languages, experiencing foreign delicacies, building relationships, and creating a cultural bridge that unites us regardless of our gender, race, religion, history, or heritage.
Our men want to see change in our East Oakland community and want a chance to help others by improving communities both domestically and internationally. They want to develop, invest and be vested in so they're more propelled to improve their lives, homes, and our communities. "Traveling is its own education in itself." -Mr. G (Founder/Teacher)
My Project
This trip will make a difference for our youth because they will be able to explore and engage in 3 different developing nations. Students will start off by visiting Guangzhou China, where they'll visit factories and experience their economic, business, and financial institutions while bridging cultures.
From Guangzhou, students will be able to visit Hanoi Vietnam where they'll continue to explore as they travel to Hanoi, Nha Trang, and Saigon.
Throughout the trip, students will eat exotic foods, visit temples, museums, war sites, schools, orphanages, beaches, and famous sites.
To finish up the trip, students will visit Cambodia's Angkor Wat in Siem Reap before finishing the trip in the Killing Fields and booming city of Phnom Penh.
This trip will be pivotal to changing lives and igniting friendships and bonds that will last throughout our student's lives.
