Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are low-income high school students that range from freshman to seniors, with disabilities. The students are responsible for learning functional living skills. The students learn mostly through vision and listening skills.
It can be challenging to have students that are on different learning levels.
The special education student has enough challenges fitting in socially that we need to help with education. The least restrictive environment is the best way that the students learn with their peers.
As their teacher, it is my responsibility to provide the students with the tools necessary so that they can become successful, confident learners. Technology has adapted to learning disabilities and provided applications that can be downloaded to adjust learning to a level they are able to complete.
My Project
Not all students that are currently in high school are destined to go to college. This is the hardest thing for a high school educator to come to grips with. The plan for this project is to teach life lessons for all students to prepare for after graduation.
College is not for everyone, this is the lesson that we need to allow all students to be prepared for the 13th grade.
The life after high school is not always perfect for everyone.
Students are trained to want to pursue college when they graduate high school. This project is going to allow them to take what they love and are good and make that their career goal.
