My Students

What makes a student great? Is it their grades? Is it their GPA? I believe it is so much more than scores and numbers. Greatness can be measured in correlation with happiness, as students are heard and respected. The greater their happiness, the more they shine, and the greater they become.

From our Robotics team to our Sk8 Club, our students reflect the melting pot of ideas, interests, passions, and backgrounds that make our country so diverse and interesting.

Student input, involvement, leadership, and collaboration are highly encouraged at Coronado. Our students help each other with free food pantries and clothing closets; they take leadership in clubs and organizations; they win recognition in everything from sports to arts to academics. Our students are faced with modern challenges, and I'm so proud of the way they face those challenges and shine bright!

My Project

Our library is the hub of our high school, filled with students during classes and at lunchtimes. It's no longer just a place to quietly study, it's become a place to meet up with friends, socialize, rest, play games, and sometimes just "escape" the pressure of the world. Our goal was to move our library forward, from a stuffy 20th century studying room, to a welcoming 21st century enjoyable environment for everyone.

During meetings with our student committees, our #1 most requested item was greenery/plants.

We can't take our students out into nature every day, but we can bring as much nature as possible into our library, providing a beautiful, calming space that doesn't reflect the white institutional walls they're used to.
