I truly appreciate your generosity and the opportunity to give my students something different from the traditional desks and chairs they were used to.\r\n\r\nWhen the furniture first arrived, my students were genuinely excited. They loved having different seating options and being able to choose where they felt most comfortable working. As a teacher, I've always believed that students don't all learn the same way, and sometimes making adjustments to their environment can help them feel more comfortable, supported, and willing to participate. It was nice to see how excited they were about having something new in their classroom.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, the furniture didn't hold up as long as I had hoped. Some of the materials simply weren't durable enough for the amount of daily use they received, while other pieces were damaged because students didn't always treat them with the care they should have. It was disappointing, especially knowing how much generosity went into making the project possible. However, it also reinforced something I try to teach my students regularly: having opportunities and resources available to us comes with the responsibility of taking care of them so that others can benefit from them as well.\r\n\r\nSince this project, I've transitioned from Coronado High School to Ellicott Middle School, a smaller, rural school district. This change has given me a different perspective on the resources and opportunities available to students across Colorado. I've seen firsthand how much access can vary between schools, and it has made me appreciate programs like DonorsChoose even more. Regardless of where they attend school, students deserve opportunities to learn in environments that support their individual needs and help them be successful.\r\n\r\nAlthough the furniture didn't last as long as I had hoped, I am still incredibly grateful for the opportunity you provided my students. Their excitement when the materials arrived was genuine, and your generosity allowed me to try something different to better support their learning.
