My Students

Why is it that the students are the first to feel the blow of a budget crisis? Our teachers were given a limit of four packs of paper in the beginning of October that's supposed to last through January. This is a completely difficult task for reading intervention teacher with 66 students to service.

I love teaching in our Title I school, but with the reduced funding, in addition to the high needs of our students, I am finding this school year to be a STRUGGLE.

Our school services 95% underprivileged students with 94% receiving free and reduced meals. We need you to help us get our reading intervention work done. Our school has given each teacher an allotment of 4 packs (500 sheets) of paper to get our daily activities with the students done. I service 66 third graders - fifth graders everyday and I'm afraid that we are limited in what we can accomplish when I have no paper.

My Project

We have already surpassed our limit on paper and none of our teachers can afford to share his/her paper. I have asked my family at home to put copy paper at the top of my Birthday Wish List. They believe it's a joke... but it's not! I would hate to stunt our reading growth because of a short paper supply. I must print out assessments to share with teachers to show growth but I have no paper to do so. This prevents collaboration and much needed movement in the areas of reading intervention.

Having the needed paper will make a huge difference this year.

Please help me provide my students with the tools needed to achieve success. By helping me obtain this paper you will ensure that my parents, teachers and students are kept up to date and that the students have the extra practice needed.
