Just Right Books For Kindergarten!!

My students need 41 sets of leveled books to read at their "just right" level to help enhance and promote their beginning reading skills. They also need book bins and a mobile book shelf.

My Students

Do you remember learning how to read? Books that were just right for you..." I see the cat".. "run Sam run". My students need your help getting their hands on book that are "just right" for their beginning reading skills that will help them grow as readers.

This is my third year teaching kindergarten in Washington and I just moved to a new school.

My class has a wide range of learners, some are still learning the basics and some are ready to start reading on their own. I need some help to equip my classroom library with leveled books for all my developing readers. "Just right" books are readers at the student level that range from beginning (level A) to more advanced (level D). We need these books to use everyday which would allow my students to choose which books are interesting to them and at their "just right" level.

My Project

In this project, I have requested for leveled books from levels A (Kindergarten level) all the way through level D. During Reading Workshop, students take out their special book bags and begin practicing the skills we have learned, but this process is hard when we do not have any books at each students reading level. When there are only a few books in their book bags that are not at their reading level, students start to become bored and do not gain as much learning as they can. I want my students to be engaged in the books they are reading and be able to choose from a variety.
