My Students

Encourage children to do more reading! Research tells us that the best way to become a better reader is to spend more time reading. Anything you do to encourage a child to spend more time with print will help make him or her a better reader.

Our school is one of Washington D.C.'s top S.T.E.M.

schools. S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and our STEM School focuses on these subjects to help our nation's youth gain the skills required to succeed in today's challenging world. This includes curriculum that is driven by problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning, and require students to actively engage in a situation in order to find its solution.

My Project

From “which” and “witch” to “piece of cake”—the tricky teaching cards make tricky words and phrases easy to understand! Each laminated card has a different idiom, homophone or multiple-meaning word—with simple sentences that show how it’s used in context, plus a picture clue for extra reinforcement. My Targets standards in these areas:• Using figurative language • Vocabulary development • Reading comprehension

Reading is very important to every child's life. Some times, reading is the only way for them to travel and have amazing experiences like meeting Charlie from Charlie and Chocolate Factory and Henry Green from Chocolate Fever. Through literature they can better understand difficult concepts that are taught in class. Please help them! You will be making a huge difference in their lives.
