With your help we now have a Calm Down Corner in our classroom. A Calm Down Corner provides a safe place for students to practice some calm down techniques and be able to return to the learning environment more quickly. Additionally, these wonderful materials are mobile and can be utilized in many spaces including outside for quiet reading.\r\n\r\nWe utilize our fidgets to self regulate and absorb any anxiety or frustration we may be experiencing. We will also continue to learn and practice other calm down techniques to help us when we are experiencing big emotions.\r\n\r\nThanks to you we have a place to go and calm down in our classroom and practice calming strategies we have learned. We have been able to buy academic, social emotional, and collaborative projects for us to work on in class!\r\n\r\nWe have been able to get more activities to grow both academically and socially within the classroom! We have used some of our donation to aid school-wide activities such as literacy night and math night. The kids are love having think sheets that they are able to fill out to describe what is going on and make them think about ways they can help themselves. They are feeling so safe and cared about.\r\n\r\nI have purchased several literacy units that have supported our reading units. We have been Ghandi, Roberto Clemente' and Benjamin Banneker. We have gotten started with painting at the easel. The students do enjoy painting and we are taking the time to teach them how to take care of the brushes once they are finished. \r\nSoon, in a few months, we will move into our paint mixing activities. We will give the students a jar with a few colors of paint in it and ask them to mix it.
