These materials will engage my students in sensory-based learning experiences which will support the ever-changing, individual learning needs in our special education classroom! Every item will expose my students to a combination of visual stimuli and provide opportunities for my students to develop not only early learning skills but also fine motor skills while engaging them in new and exciting learning activities.
For example , the alphabet rug will provide an alternate, kinesthetic way to practice naming and identifying letters in addition to developing language abilities via tacting animals/objects and receptive language skills. The magnetic cars will provide opportunities for exploratory play, fine motor, and matching practice. The magnetic blocks will be utilized for exposure to STEM-based activities in regards to counting, building, manipulating objects, and making hypotheses. The Beehive will allow sorting and counting practice as well as five motor skill practice. Through all of the exposures provided by the items listed, we'll work to enhance language and communication skills as well as overall social/play skills, areas of the ongoing need for all of my students. The variety of sensory input provided by a lot of items will also support sensory regulation as well! Based on what I've seen from the kids since the beginning of this school year, I'd be extremely excited to see how these new experiences worked to motivate learning and advance all of their skill sets! We'd all be truly grateful for any considerations and donations made to support our quest to explore and construct knowledge from the world around us!
