Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Touch technology is intriguing even to adults. The more technology that is used in the classroom, the more engaged students are today.

My students live and learn in a poverty stricken neighborhood.

Our school is a community school which strives to be a beacon of hope within the community. We instill in our students that education is the surest way to succeed in life. Despite the struggles my students face at home, they show up at school daily with positive attitudes and an eagerness to learn.

My Project

I am requesting three touch screen tablets for my classroom. These tablets will allow students to do research wirelessly from their desks, to log their reading time and blog about the books they are reading on-line on our class blog, and give students access to an unlimited supply of educational apps, websites and interventions that can be tailored to their exact needs. In addition to the wide variety of things students will be able to do with these tablets, they will be engaged in their learning. Engaging students is the number one priority in my classroom, and when technology is involved, students are automatically more engaged.

Many of the students I teach do not have access to a computer or the Internet at home.

Our society today thrives on technology and the web. If these students continue to go through their educational careers with little access to new technology, they will continue to fall behind their counterparts with a higher economic status. All students deserve an education that will prepare them for the competitive work place regardless of their economic status.
