Recognizing letters, learning sounds, and practicing writing helps students develop literacy skills early on. By combining fine motor practice with alphabet learning, children can simultaneously enhance their ability to form letters and words while reinforcing their understanding of letter shapes and sounds.\r\n\r\nThe materials donated have provided more opportunities to practice those literacy and fine motor skills and help retain them. My students have enjoyed all the different ways to explore their literacy skills. The materials have provided a sense of independence and mastery, which has set my kindergarten students up for future success in both reading and writing, while also supporting their overall physical and cognitive growth. Because of your generous donations, I was able to put together two beautiful, comfortable, and engaging reading areas in our school. The bookshelves and rugs really give the spaces a warm and inviting feeling. The cushions and decor tie the spaces together and invite students to sit and stay awhile to read. \r\nThese spaces will be used by more teachers than just myself. These spaces will be used for students for independent reading, meeting with their reading buddies in other grades, and meeting with small groups in reading. \r\nThe students were so excited to see the new reading spaces.
