My Students

"What should we have for dinner tonight?" Sound like a familiar comment uttered by parents on a daily basis? Could be, but not in this case. Rather, it is the question of a 5 year old at school in the playhouse area.

The group of 22 kindergarten children I work with are happy and have lively imaginations.

One of their favorite times of the day is free choice and one of their favorite places is the playhouse area. There, the children become mommies, daddies, chefs and other fascinating beings.

My Project

The table set, foods and dishes in the playhouse area will allow the children to use their imaginations. The items will also encourage children to work and share together. Furthermore, children will have to apply their mathematical skills to determine how many settings and/or food will be required.

Children definitely need to learn their core subjects, but they must also have time to play, dream and imagine.

Wouldn't we ALL be better off if we had time to play, dream and imagine?
