My Students

Our choir classroom is outfitted with midi keyboards and computers, but no way to connect the two! This wonderful technology is sitting useless in the room. With this new software, students will be able to finally make use of this technology, being able to notate and record their compositions.

My students live in a small Nevada town, and constantly complain that there is, "nothing to do".

Our community is close-nit and our school small, but the students are brimming with creativity and just dying to let it out! My students range from the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor, and it never ceases to amaze me that music is the great equalizer. In my classroom, we are all equal!

My Project

With this software, students will be able to notate their compositions so that they can perform with other students. Then, they can record these performances and mix the audio, even adding electronic effects and drum beats if they so desire, just like in a real music studio. They can burn their final product to Cd's or even convert them to audio MP3 format and send the files electronically. From composition to final product, the students will be able to bring their ideas to life!

The lives of teenagers can be very stressful without a creative outlet, and being able to create their own music recordings will allow them to express themselves and find a voice during this trying time in their development.

Musical expression can give students a chance to show the world what they are capable of, and allows to rest of us to see and hear the world through their eyes and ears. Who knows, this project may inspire the next world-class recording artist!
