My Students

"Be an opener of doors," said Ralph Waldo Emerson. Can you imagine being a child and speaking to someone in a classroom 50 miles away? How about speaking to someone in another country? I want to open the doors of communication for my students to help prepare them for the future.

My students are advanced third graders working on the fourth grade level in a public school.

They come from different economic and cultural backgrounds but they all share the motivation and desire to learn. My students love using technology and are thrilled with every chance they get to use computers.

My Project

I would love to open the doors of global communication for my students. With the web cams, students can use Skype to communicate with children in other schools within our state and around the world. The Flip camcorder will allow students to film themselves and create movies that can be shared via the internet. Imagine a child filming a day in his/her life and sharing that video with a child in China. What an opportunity for learning cultural differences!
