My Students

Be a book pusher!!! Let my students have lots of titles to choose from to take home and read to a family member or friend!

My kids are Full Day Kindergartners.

They have taken off with their reading and writing. I believe it is because they have so many chances to use and see words. We are a public school that does not receive title one money, therefore there is not much extra to help out with such projects. I do, however have some students that these are the only books in their homes.

My Project

I am trying to extend their daily guided reading into their homes by sending home appropriate independent leveled text for the kids to read to someone. The kids will take a new book home each day and return it the next. They also read it in class during the day to friends.

Building confident beginning readers is the most important thing in a Kindergartner's education.

I believe that this is the right first step in Literacy for students. Books open the world to kids.
