I did not tell my students about the project until it was fully funded, and I wish I had a recording of the moment I broke the news to my students that flexible seating would be arriving to our classroom! They were ecstatic and could not wait to utilize new seating options! \r\nOnce I unveiled the cushion spots, scoop seats, and lap desks, they could not wait to grab a seat on the rug and show that they could be excellent listeners with their new and improved seating. Since receiving the flexible seating, students are quicker to follow instructions, show more engagement in whole group lessons, and are excited to complete independent work on the rug. Having these options has sparked a new joy for learning for many of my students.\r\nOne moment I remember in particular was during Coding Week. When we began our \"Hour of Code\" for the day, students asked if they could get a lap desk and work on the rug. When I turned my attention from my small group back to the rest of the class, I saw that they had spread themselves out on the rug with lap desks, floor cushions, and scoop seats and they were all fully engaged in their coding activity.
