I teach second grade in a Title 1 school. Approximately 90 percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch. I am constantly trying to find ways to bring technology into our classroom. Lights, Camera, Action!! In our class the students work together on projects and presentations. We have also started working on creating PowerPoint presentations. I would like to use the video camera to tape the students giving their presentations. I would also like to teach the students how to use the flip video camera. This is another great way to get parents to come into the school to see what their child is doing in the classroom. I would like to purchase a flip video camcorder for our classroom. At the moment my students are working on an African American history unit. They will learn about many famous African Americans. They will work in small groups to put together a project or presentation to share with the rest of the class. I would like to purchase the camcorder so that they are able to record their peers doing their presentations. Throughout the year, the students create a short play on a book that we have read. They work in groups to collaborate on how they think the play should go. When they have had time to practice, they then put on the show for the class. I would love to be able to record this for them so that they can watch themselves perform. By purchasing the flip video camcorder for my students you will help them become more technologically savvy. This is a very important skill in a world where they are surrounded by technology. This is a skill that they can take with them throughout their educational career.
