These books are not simply additions to a shelf — they are tools for teaching powerful literacy skills. Titles like The Word Collector and The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore help us explore vocabulary development, theme, and the importance of stories in our lives. It's OK to Be Different and The Garden of Abdul Gasazi allow us to dive into character traits, central message, and deeper comprehension conversations. Even high-interest books like Dog Man and The Book with No Pictures become opportunities to teach fluency, expression, point of view, and understanding author's purpose. Every book you provided strengthens skills aligned to our third-grade reading standards — from identifying theme and central message to making inferences and supporting answers with text evidence.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and joyful. You'll see students spread out with book bins, gathered in small groups discussing character choices, whisper-reading to build fluency, or laughing together during a read-aloud. You'll hear rich conversations like, \"What lesson is the character learning?\" or \"What evidence supports that theme?\" Our classroom library is organized so students can easily access diverse texts — picture books, graphic novels, bilingual stories, and culturally rich literature — because representation and choice matter. The goal is not just to teach students how to read, but to help them see themselves as readers.\r\n\r\nSome students who were previously hesitant to pick up a book are now the first to browse the shelves. My graphic novel lovers gravitated immediately to Dog Man, building stamina and confidence. One of my quieter students proudly checked out Giraffes Can't Dance and later shared how it reminded her that everyone has strengths, even if they look different. Watching students connect personally to stories has been the most powerful part of this project. As we continue our work on theme, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies, these new books will be at the heart of small groups, book talks, and independent reading growth.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students are not just reading more — they are thinking more deeply, discussing more confidently, and discovering the joy that books can bring. Thank you for investing in their stories and their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1759849387383,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-build-a-library-we-love/9467919/","projectTitle":"Help Us Build a Library We Love","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4776_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736259451750","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-jbryan"},{"teacherId":4776,"projectId":9606563,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our Jaybirds at Allen Jay Elementary now have snacks to fuel both their bodies and their brains each day. With our early lunch schedule, many of my third graders hit an afternoon slump right when we're diving into our most important instruction — small group reading, multiplication fluency practice, and problem-solving in math. Having snacks available has made a noticeable difference. Just last week, during reading groups, one of my students quietly said, \"I can think better now.\" That simple moment reminded me that something as small as a snack can remove a barrier to learning and allow a child to fully engage.\r\n\r\nWhen the snacks arrived, the excitement was immediate — but what stood out even more was the gratitude. My students were genuinely thankful. Several asked, \"Who sent these?\" and wanted to know why someone they've never met would do something so kind for them. It led to a beautiful conversation about generosity, community, and how people support one another. Your kindness became a teachable moment far beyond academics.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are continuing to strengthen reading comprehension skills — focusing on theme, central message, and recalling key details — while also building multiplication fluency to support more complex math problem-solving. Now, instead of distracted, tired learners in the afternoon, I see focused, engaged students who are ready to think deeply and work hard. Your support is not just providing snacks; it is providing equity, dignity, and the ability for my students to finish each day strong. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in them.","fullyFundedDate":1759155078983,"projectUrl":"project/full-bellies-focused-brains/9606563/","projectTitle":"Full Bellies, Focused Brains","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4776_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736259451750","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-jbryan"},{"teacherId":42318,"projectId":9715701,"letterContent":"Now that we have sound dampening panels and lamps our classroom so nice and cozy!
