My students need a laptop computer for individual student work, centers, using our interactive whiteboard, and for streamlining all of our wonderful activities.

I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school everyday to see the sparkle in their little 5-8 year old eyes. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure everyday with my students! I am about to make a request for something larger than I have ever requested before, and I wouldn't ask if I didn't think it was truly worth every single penny. I am requesting an HP Mini laptop computer for individual student work, for our reading/writing center, for use with our interactive whiteboard, and for streamlining all of the wonderful activities that we do. I can promise you that this HP Mini laptop would be used all day long by students in my classroom. I have taken part in professional development classes so that I can use all kinds of new, exciting material and learning trends with my students. This laptop will help me to better reach my students through interactive websites where the stories students read have little animated characters, and where classrooms can chat back and forth from state to state! An example is when a class in New Jersey was hatching baby chicks. We borrowed a laptop and were able to watch the whole process with this class that is all the way across the U.S. How exciting! Some other uses for the laptop are making class videos for Grandparents' Day and other special events, doing poetry activities where students can manipulate and highlight words, practicing math and reading skills in a fun way, exploring and creating both with writing and art, learning about Internet safety, and creative writing. Computer programs can help students who are not on grade level make significant gains. We can use the laptop with our interactive whiteboard in so many wonderful ways. We can use our pictures to make our own personalized reading stories. And this is just the beginning! Please, please, please, consider funding my proposal for a laptop for my students. I guarantee that every penny you spend will count. Having this computer in my classroom will help students to develop a strong interest in many exciting areas of study for a lifetime of learning. Who knows, I may have a little scientist in my classroom who could save an endangered species, develop a cure for a serious disease, or become an important business leader. Thank you so much for looking at my proposal and my students thank you as well. They will be so excited to get this proposal funded! It will make our reading/writing center dazzle and our interactive whiteboard sing! And best of all, it will truly make a huge difference in our learning! Every single donation helps!
