I teach first grade at a high-needs, and low-income demographic school in New York. We are a growing school, we have added one grade per year. Unfortunately, my students have inherited chairs that were designed for older middle school students. The chairs they are currently use are falling apart at the hinges. Some of the chairs do not have any rubber bases at the bottom of the legs. In addition to being too big and too heavy, these chairs are also a safety hazard for my small five and six years old students.

My students need to have chairs which are relatively comfortable to sit in for approximately 4 hours a day. They also need chairs that they can easy to lift when putting them away at the end of the day.

My students need chairs that are practical and reasonably comfortable. The chairs they currently use are either lop-sided, not adjusted according to their heights, too heavy to lift, or they are literally breaking when the student puts it away at the end of the day. My students need chairs that are light-weight, durable, plastic student chairs. The chairs will also be used in the future.

Please help my students to receive this basic necessity. I know it will make a difference in their ability to focus and therefore improve the quality of their education.
