Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am employed at an inner NYC school with struggling students in grades 1-5. My students require additional remediation in basic math facts. Our room has literacy and math centers. However, the math center lacks an inviting area for students to work and to be actively engaged in math activities.

Currently, the Resource Room has numerous centers, computer, literacy, and math center. The math center will benefit from an inviting rug with learning prompts in math facts. These prompts will encourage students to master the basic math facts, and become more proficient in math.

The Resource Room requires one math rug which has colorful illustrations and basic math facts. This project will enable the students to have an area where they can be comfortable and actively engaged in math activities. Students will be encouraged to learn the basic math facts in a fun and stimulating atmosphere sitting on a rug with prompts.

Your assistance and support will enable struggling students to demonstrate mastery of the basic math facts in a manner which is motivating, fun, and exciting.
