The day our new rainbow rug arrived, my students were beyond excited! As soon as I set it up, I swear they were even more excited and energized to learn. It's even become a popular spot during after school cooking club!\r\n\r\nWe now use the rug every single day during morning meeting, read-alouds, language arts and math lessons, partner talks, and mindfulness practice. Having this shared space has helped students stay more focused, feel more connected, and fully participate in our discussions and routines.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on collaboration skills during our language arts block, and the rug has made it so much easier for students to turn and talk, share ideas, and listen to one another. While the yoga ball halves are an excellent addition to our morning sensory diets. They help my students work on developing their core muscles and coordination which are essential for handwriting and school stamina. In addition, we were able to get a new sensory ball for our wall obstacle course. This allows students to get deep pressure into their muscles that helps with regulation through deep point movements. I cannot stress how important these simple bins have created such a difference.\r\n\r\nIn a public school you can't choose the type of shelves you get, We had mismatched shelves and bins. But with the clear bins I was able to make labels for my older students. This way, they would know where to look for the books they wanted and where to put them back. Creating independence. They no longer had to ask me for help to choose a book that was just right for them.\r\n\r\nI used the colored bins to organize my decodable books. This way my younger students and emergent readers could look for the right colored bin to get the books that were at their level.
