I teach 5th grade in an urban school district of North Carolina. The Magnet School that I work at has a very diverse population. Many of the students that attend the school come from low socioeconomic and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Imagine the feeling of seeing the growing excitement surrounding a class trip to Washington, D.C. knowing that your family simply can't afford to send you. The reality becomes even more difficult because some students who are going have already visited DC, yet you have barely been out of your own city. It wouldn't feel fair. Unfortunately, this is the exact situation for several students that are attending our first annual field trip to Washington, DC.

This proposal will allow 4 students to attend our 2 night, 3 day trip to Washington, DC. The trip includes all transportation, meals, hotels, and other entry fees. We will be visiting places like the tomb of the unknown soldier, the Smithsonian Museum, the Lincoln Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery. The students will gain valuable insight into our nation's history and our government through this trip. Most importantly, your donation will provide students with an authentic learning experience that they could otherwise not even imagine. The 5th grade teachers and our principal refuse to allow some students to miss out on this trip, so we need your help to send these 4 students who deserve this wonderful real-life learning experience.

Imagine the joy of students finding out they can go on this trip when they had assumed they weren't going. Then, imagine the experience they will have with friends and teachers as they explore a whole new city with its museums, history, and monuments. It will be a trip they will never forget. You have to power to make the difference and provide this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a deserving group of 5th grade students. Thank you for taking the time to read this proposal
