Ms. P. Center Hill High School
Olive Branch, MS Grades 6-8

I teach Language Arts to a group vivacious 7th graders. I have a variety of students ranging from inclusion students to gifted and a combination of the two. My students are a combination of different ethnic groups and come from all brackets of the economic classes.

My students are missing out on superb learning opportunities by not having this projector in their classroom. The Internet offers numerous learning opportunities in new and interesting ways. We have a computer in the classroom, but we are unable to all view anything on it without trying to crowd around the monitor. This causes an uncomfortable environment and it ruins the whole learning experience. We have had the opportunity to check out one of the LCD projectors from the library and it was an amazing experience. My students are begging to have one permanently placed in the classroom.

My students would greatly benefit from the LCD projector. This would give me the opportunity to present information to my students in a new and more engaging way. I could use Power Point Presentations to present notes to the class. We could use Study Island as a class. Here the students use individual dry erase boards to present their answers. The kids love using Study Island with a projector. We can view pictures from historical periods based on what type of novel we are reading. We can use on-line resources such as Wikipedia, dictionary.com, google, nettrekker, and so many more. The Discovery Store and other companies offer numerous grammar and literature games that are based on the idea that an LCD projector is located in the classroom. LCD projectors are becoming common place in classrooms these days, and currently my students are behind the times because they are lacking the opportunity to work with this critical and valuable instrument.

Imagine this. A group of 28 students are all anxiously awaiting the click of the mouse so that they can view the next question on the board. They read along silently as the designated reader reads the question and answer choices aloud. The students scramble to write their answers down on their boards, and are careful that no one else can see what they wrote. The student in charge of polling the class asks for everyone to show their answers and quickly assesses what the majority of the class thought the correct answer is. "B," he calls out. Everyone watches as the letter B is clicked on by the student in charge of working the mouse. "Yes!" can be heard from numerous students who have gotten instant feedback on their performance. Your generous contribution could make scenarios like this one occur in my classroom more frequently than they currently do. You would truly be enhancing the education of my students. Thank you
