In an age when multimedia technology surrounds us, all students deserve access to resources that allow them to learn, create and communicate in new and exciting ways. Funding this proposal would afford my General Music and Choral students the ability to learn and communicate visually using a multimedia projector. With this versatile piece of equipment, which is considered a standard feature in many collegiate classrooms, I can accompany lessons with multimedia presentations that include easy-to-read text, as well as pictures, video clips and internet content. I will also use the projector for demonstrations of music composition software that I intend to incorporate into our curriculum this year. The possibilities for student engagement are limitless. Using this projector, they will present the findings of individual and collaborative projects, sharing knowledge and opinions with their peers. For example, at the conclusion of our unit on film music, in support their verbal explanation of their analysis of music used in a specific film, they will organize their main points in a slideshow presentation and play clips that support their opinions. I'm excited to offer my students experience with current technology whenever possible. They deserve every advantage possible as they strive toward their post-secondary educational goals.
