Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students have a passion for using technology and are engaged whenever they use it. They love school as it provides a positive environment for them. They are creative, enthusiastic and academically inclined. They love studying economics because it provides real world lessons that they use on a daily basis. They are intuitive and want to learn more about topics such as investing and earning money.

My students are special because despite their circumstances, they rise above it and strive to achieve.

They know that I have high expectations and perform the best way that they can. My school is in an urban setting, but my students are talented. I see future artists, singers, doctors, lawyers and engineers who will solve problems and become productive citizens.

My Project

I want to create an economically challenging learning environment for my students. My goal is to use these requested books to expand my classroom library. Students will read about economics through scenarios, work collaboratively to identify the key concepts and apply this knowledge to the content they are currently learning. Literacy develops critical thinking skills and encourages students to problem solve.

Both of the books I am requesting will be used to introduce economic concepts to students in a format that they can easily understand and to build student understanding of economics through collaboration with their peers.

Books will be used to create stations for students to engage in authentic application of economics
