Shhh, Authors at Work!!!

My students need supplies like paper, glue and a laminator to turn their creative writing into published books. These books will be shared at an Author's Tea and submitted to the Young Author's Contest.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Dr. Seuss did it, Jan Brett, Ezra Jack Keats too! They wrote children's books to entertain us, now we have too! We would like to submit our work to a Young Author's Contest, a few supplies would help us get noticed and preserve our work forever.

We are 24 bright, inquisitive and creative students in one of the largest cities in CT.

All of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Our school struggles on a daily basis to meet Yearly Annual Progress as defined by No Child Left Behind. We strive to provide a stimulating, academically rigorous, engaging environment to our students in the hopes of inspiring them to beat the odds and value their education as their ticket out of poverty!

My Project

It was only six months ago that we began to learn the alphabet, from there we began to read and write. After studying many children's authors we put our knowledge to the test. Each student has written and illustrated their own book about a topic that they are an expert on. Our plan is to submit them to a Young Author's contest and present them to our families at an Author's Tea. A laminator and bright paper would make them stand out and preserve them forever. Could the next Dr. Seuss be sitting among us? I feel that this experience has challenged the students and inspired them to love books, be proud of themselves and believe that they can do anything (with a little hard work)!

Your generous donation will help purchase the necessary supplies to get our work submitted, but more importantly, it will demonstrate that together we can make a difference.

The students in my class know what it is like to go without, but they also know that there are good people out there that care about their success. Please help them to confirm this.
