Children take great pleasure in listening to stories! These books on CD provide another way for students to experience the love for books. They will learn so many literary components from using listening to these books.
The students in this classroom are fun, energetic three and four year old students in a preschool special education classroom.
Students have moderate to severe disabilities. Half of my students are military dependents while the other half are local Hawaii students.
My Project
Students will be motivated to listen to books on CD. Books on CD have interesting sound effects, music, and multiple narrators that are especially motivating and fun for young children.
Children will also develop a sense of narrative structure and understanding of language. Stories on CD will help them to grasp the rich and various ways in which language conveys meaning. In addition, exposing students to a range of narrators and their different styles of reading will deepen their grasp of the reading process.
The books on CD emphasize reading as a source of pleasure rather than a skill, and will make children eager to learn how to read.
