I Found A Dinosaur In My Backyard! Part 2

My students need 22 Diggin' Up Dinosaurs kits to experience becoming a paleontologist.

My Students

My students love the concept of dinosaurs but only have the opportunity to learn about them from an information sheet.

Our school and district is considered low performing where the majority of kids receive free breakfast and lunch each day.

Our community is becoming increasing more violent and the students see and hear activities related to this unfortunate change daily. One place they feel safe is at school and enriching their school day is my goal. Science is a favorite topic with the little ones however we rarely have time for quality scientific instruction when we must focus on raising math and reading scores. When we find the time I want the best materials possible in the hands of my kids since funding for supplemental supplies is virtually non-existent.

My Project

The opportunity to discover the wonder of science exploration is only possible with the help of donors like you. My students will become mini-paleontologists, digging for their own fossils with the kits provided in this proposal. They will work with a piece of "dirt" that holds replica fossils and actually be able to brush away the compacted sand to discover the treasures hidden beneath. Imagine their delight when they uncover bones of their very own! I am requesting several sets of fossil-hunting kits so each of my students have their own to work with and take home after the lessons.

Kids are mesmerized by the concept of dinosaurs but the real learning doesn't take place from a textbook.

I need these valuable hands-on materials so learning comes alive in their minds and allows them to make the connection to real-world science. Thank you for helping make this happen for my deserving kids!
