Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I try to inspire my students to follow their passions. One of the starting points to doing that is reading. I want to have a variety of books on a variety of subjects available to my students, especially now that I am teaching fifth-grade.
My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood.
They are appreciative of the extras that we can provide for them but do not expect them. They really appreciate the wide selection of reading material I have available for them to read. I am currently teaching a higher grade-level and I need some higher-level reading material. Many of my students have no books at home to read so it is imperative I provide them with multiple reading options.
My Project
These books will help me inspire my students to read consistently. My students will be able to check these books out of the classroom in addition to the library books they will check out of the school library. I have chosen a wide variety of books with interesting topics and some of the classics adapted for children. These books will help my students know some of the classics but also have other interesting, factual material available on a wide variety of topics and subjects.
Your donations will allow me to add higher-level books to my classroom library.
It will give my students a variety of subjects and reading levels from which to choose. Thank you for your generosity.
