Their eyes lit up as we unpacked bright floor cushions, wobble cushions, bouncy chair bands, colorful highlighters, and playdough. The moment they realized these materials were ours to keep, the room filled with gasps and cheers. They immediately loved slipping the chair pouches onto their seats, taking pride in having a neat, organized spot for their glue sticks, highlighters, and daily supplies.\r\n\r\nThese resources have completely transformed our daily routine and learning environment. During a recent interactive reading and writing lesson, my students used their privacy folders to create focused mini-workspaces while analyzing passage texts with their new highlighters. Students who usually struggle to sit still were happily working away on wobble cushions or gently bouncing their feet on the chair bands, fully absorbed in their work without distractions. At our tactile learning station, students even used the playdough to build vocabulary letters and shapes before gluing their finished work into interactive notebooks using our fresh glue sticks. The flexible seating has turned independent work time into a peaceful, highly productive part of our day.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next big step is diving into a multi-week research project where students will work both independently and in small groups. They will be using our floor cushions to form cozy collaboration circles around the room, using highlighters for source research, and putting together final presentation folders. Last year, I was able to use snacks and headphones to help my students feel more comfortable and prepared during testing. This year, thanks to your generosity, we have pencils, AASA practice books, snacks, and Expo markers available from the beginning of the school year so we can start preparing early and build confidence along the way.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see the new supplies and know that they have materials specifically to help them practice and prepare. We are using the AASA practice books to become familiar with the types of questions they will see, while the Expo markers allow us to work through problems together and show our thinking. The pencils and snacks also help make our practice sessions feel more positive and comfortable. Our next step is to continue practicing throughout the year so students can strengthen their skills, learn effective testing strategies, and feel confident when testing day arrives. They were excited to pick the color of headphones that they wanted to use for this year. The headphones helped them focus on their math and reading programs that they did 4 times a week. \r\nThey canceled out noise and were comfortable on their ears. They were also easy to fold and put away each time they were done with them. They are sturdy and they are able to hear all the directions clearing. It is a lot easier to find the materials that are needed. Even my students were able to help get supplies since they were organized in containers. My classroom looked less cluttered as well.\r\nThe magnetic letters worked so well on cookie sheets with letter mats. My students loved using their letter trays to learn letters and make CVC words. They loved that they were able to pick which color they wanted to have on their tray for the year.
