Books are a huge part of my life and everyday I try to share that joy with my second graders. We use a cassette / cd player as part of our independent reading stations. Over the years I have collected several books on tape and cd's. Every week the children look forward to listening to a book being read to them. This helps the fluent and struggling reader alike. It makes reading a joy - not something to struggle through. After they listen to the story they do a literacy project to expand on the book. Our current cassette /cd player only works occasionally. We have headphones and books and will be all set if we can get the cassette/cd player.
