My Students

You would have not thought that a classroom with 9 students can get very busy! Especially if it's a multi-grade classroom of students with challenges on attention and maintaining their focus.

Most of my students have been in my program for at least 3 years and have been in the same room for almost the same time.

Despite literally making our classroom their second home, they have challenges dealing with their distractibility even in a familiar environment. The slightest movement will lose their focus and make them tune out completely. Some of them have been successful dealing with this appropriately, but most of them still need the physical support to block off the distractions.

My Project

A room partition will provide the physical support for my students to block off distractions, which is a given in a multi-level classroom. There are two discussion groups with 2-3 children, an intervention group of 1-2 students, and at least 2 students doing their individual work task taking place in the classroom at the same time. My staff and I do our best in keeping our voices down but it is just impossible not to create sounds and make movements that prove to be distractible to students. The partition will allow to divide the room and make a library space with the cushioned sofa to invite the curious readers in them.

Our students have a great potential given the appropriate support.

These supports, such as the room partition and a comfortable sofa reader to lessen distractions and provide a conducive environment, may not be present within the different environments they live, work, and play. We desire for them to maximize the time they spend with one of the most important activities they engage in-learning. Your support will truly help to achieve our instructional goals.
